Stephen Gleadow is an American artist currently living and working in Beijing, China. His multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and film. Gleadow’s work frequently unfolds against a backdrop of scientific, historical, and spiritual inquiry, engaging processes of material experimentation and the reconfiguration of found objects and cultural remnants.

While maintaining a strong dialogue with the broader language of abstraction, Gleadow’s recent work increasingly reflects the material environment and lived experiences of his studio practice in China. In his practice, discarded materials, archival traces, and everyday artifacts are reorganized into new spatial and conceptual relationships. In addition to his studio practice, Gleadow remains active within Beijing’s contemporary art community, periodically contributing as an independent curator and creative director on various art and design projects.
